Mr. Mirza Mobin Ahmad Beg is a seasoned professional with over four decades of diverse experience spanning information technology, socio-economic research, and teaching. A postgraduate in Mathematical Statistics from Lucknow University and an MCA by qualification, he began his career with the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER), New Delhi, where he was involved in large-scale socio-economic studies — handling everything from survey design and data analysis to report writing. His analytical acumen and research contributions at NCAER between 1968 and 1973 laid a strong foundation for his subsequent leadership roles in technology and development sectors.
From 1973 to 2003, Mr. Beg served as Joint Director at the Rural Electrification Corporation (REC), New Delhi, where he managed the Information Technology Department and oversaw software development, procurement, and implementation across 17 locations. His major achievements include leading the Y2K preparedness program, initiating organization-wide computer literacy training for over 1,000 employees, and spearheading the computerization of REC’s operational processes. Alongside his IT responsibilities, he contributed to socio-techno-economic research, corporate planning, project appraisal, and monitoring of rural electrification initiatives. His professional journey is further marked by continuous upskilling through advanced training in programming, systems analysis, database management, and Unix systems at leading institutions like IIT Delhi and Wipro.
After his retirement from REC in 2003, Mr. Beg dedicated himself to academia for over 12 years, serving as a visiting faculty and curriculum committee member at Jamia Millia Islamia and MakhanLal Chaturvedi National University of Journalism and Mass Communication. He has taught a wide range of subjects including programming, data structures, MIS, e-commerce, and research software like SPSS and EViews, while also mentoring postgraduate students. His scholarly contributions include papers on emerging web technologies and digital development. In addition to his academic work, Mr. Beg remains deeply engaged in social service — as Chairman of the Socio-Economic Empowerment Foundation of India, Vice President of the Association for Environment and Development Research, and convener of the Society for Sports and Cultural Advancement, Noida. His career reflects a rare blend of technological expertise, research excellence, educational commitment, and social leadership.
